In the production environment of the flat glass industry, machine PCs are exposed to increased security risks such as data loss and malware. With the solutions lis.backup and lis.protect, LiSEC offers reliable cloud-based services that enable both on-site and off-site backups and effectively protect machine PCs from malware. Read the blog post to find out how these solutions ensure a continuous production process and protect you from unexpected downtimes and costs.
The CHallenge
In the production environment of the flat glass industry, machine PCs are exposed to increased security risks due to their long operating times. Two of the biggest risks are data loss and the risk of malware. Data loss can occur for various reasons, such as hard disk failures or human error. These risks can have serious consequences, as important production data can be irretrievably lost. At the same time, machine PCs are vulnerable to malware, which, if spread, can disrupt or even bring production processes to a halt.
To meet these challenges, LiSEC offers the lis.backup solution, which provides both onsite and offsite backups to ensure reliable data recovery in the event of hard disk failure or other causes of data loss. In addition, LiSEC offers lis.protect, a state-of-the-art endpoint protection solution. This protection solution uses rule-based and AI-supported detection mechanisms to effectively protect machine PCs from malware. This ensures the highest level of security.
The LiSEC Security Solutions
The two security solutions, lis.backup and lis.protect, are cloud-based services that are configured and provided by LiSEC. They offer customers reliable protection and ensure smooth production.
With lis.backup, the data on the machine PCs is backed up either to another hard disk, a file server or to the LiSEC Data Center. This gives customers the assurance that their valuable production data is always protected and can be quickly restored in the event of data loss. If a recovery is necessary, it can be carried out either for individual files on the machine PC itself or for the entire system using a recovery medium.
lis.protect offers customers a solution that is specially preconfigured and tested for LiSEC machine PCs, reliably detects and removes malware, and does not affect production. Customers benefit from a high level of security because the solution uses both rule-based and AI-supported detection mechanisms to effectively protect machine PCs from malware. This ensures a continuous production process and protects against unexpected downtime and costs.
How lis.backup works
LiSEC uses Veeam, a leading software for backup and recovery, for lis.backup to regularly back up the data on the hard disks of machine PCs while conserving bandwidth. lis.backup makes it possible to use different target media for the backups, depending on the specific requirements of the customer. Possible target media include additional storage media directly on the machine PC, a customer file server or the LiSEC Data Center. Ensuring the high availability of backups is a central aspect of LiSEC's backup strategy. This is achieved by using the LiSEC Data Center, which is specifically designed to ensure optimal data backup and recovery. Backups are particularly important for restoring lost recipes and configurations. LiSEC has an in-depth knowledge of the machine PC file system and can adapt the backup strategy to ensure that no unnecessary data is backed up. The implementation of a cloud-based backup solution lis.backup based on Veeam software provides a comprehensive and reliable data backup solution that meets the specific requirements of the flat glass industry.
How lis.protect Works
For the lis.protect security solution, LiSEC relies on the leading endpoint protection solution SentinelOne to ensure the highest possible security. SentinelOne is preconfigured to enable a particularly high detection rate based on rule-based and AI-supported technologies. At the same time, it ensures that the machine PCs are not unnecessarily burdened to avoid impairing production operations. If malware is detected, it is automatically removed and the operator is alerted immediately. Security software updates are regularly tested, configured and approved for installation by LiSEC to ensure that the latest threats are always countered. This approach guarantees continuous and reliable protection for machine PCs in the flat glass industry.
Prerequisites for lis.backup and lis.protect
To ensure that the two security solutions, lis.backup and lis.protect, can be reliably used, it is important that certain hardware requirements are met The machine PCs must therefore use at least Windows 7 and be equipped with at least 4GB RAM. In addition, the system partition must be at least 240 GB and the data partition at least 320 GB. To communicate with the cloud systems, the customer firewall must be configured accordingly – please contact LiSEC Support for assistance.
